The Washington Post reports that among the PTSD victims of the Iraq war Foreign Service (FS) members, who are placed in danger zones, where family members are not allowed to live, experience post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It is estimated 40% or more of the FS members and military members suffer the effects of PTSD. Wounded personel may be effected the most.
The House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East and South Asia urged the State Department to make debriefings mandatory for civilian employees returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
